Fruit is a healthy choice in general, and dieticians advocate having some with every meal. Citrus, in particular, may be disturbing your sleep due to its high acidity. This can result in heartburn or a painful condition known as gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Citrus fruit is also heavy in sugar, which can provide an energy boost when you need it most. Start the day with citrus and transition to lower-sugar, lower-acid fruits as the day develops. Figs, raisins, grapes, apples, kiwi, and papaya are all good late-day fruits.
